"Funk Inc. - Superfunk -1973 US":

Highly regarded in soul-jazz circles, organ combo Funk Inc. has specialized in a very accessible, groove-oriented blend of jazz, funk and RB. The group was founded in Indianapolis in 1969 by organist Bobby Watley, who recruited tenor saxman Eugene Barr, guitarist Steve Weakley, drummer Jimmy Munford and conga player Cecil Hunt.
In the early 1970s, the original lineup came to the attention of Bob Porter, a well respected producer who signed Funk Inc. to Prestige and paved the way for the band to record five albums for that label.

"Chimera - S/T-1969 UK":

Legendary lost masterpiece of late '60s acid folk/baroque psychedelia, the unreleased 1969 album by Chimera, featuring future Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Weston was partly produced by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason who, like Rick Wright, makes a cameo appearance.

"Willie Bobo -Do That Thing Guajira- 1963 US":
Willie Bobo was the stage name of William Correa (February 28, 1934 – September 15, 1983), an American jazz percussionist. His son, Eric Bobo (Eric Correa), is a percussionist with crew Cypress Hill.William Correa grew up in Spanish Harlem, New York City. He made his name in Latin Jazz, specifically Afro-Cuban jazz, in the 1960s and '70s, with the timbales becoming his favoured instrument. He met Mongo Santamaria shortly after his arrival in New York and studied with him while acting as his translator, and later at age 19 joined Tito Puente for four years.

Willie Bobo's first record for Tico is arranged around his previous double-sided single, "Bobo Do That Thing" b/w "Guajira." The former, which leads off the set, is a sub-Ray Charles shing-a-ling number, with frequent calls for Bobo to get to it.
"Guajira" is much better, Bobo's first minor-key Latin processional (many were to come), with great ensemble brass and reeds leading the way. "Azulito" is a racing stomp, while "Grab Your Hat" and "Chickadee" are nice piano-led numbers.

"Wes Montgomery - California Dreaming-1966 US":

Wes Montgomery (Born Mar 6, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN- Died Jun 15, 1968 in Indianapolis, IN) was one of the great jazz guitarists, a natural extension of Charlie Christian whose appealing use of octaves became influential and his trademark. He achieved great commercial success during his last few years, only to die prematurely.
Wes Montgomery's last album for Verve is a so-so orchestral album featuring arrangements by Don Sebesky. The material (which includes "Sunny" and "California Dreaming") is strictly pop fluff of the era and the great guitarist has little opportunity to do much other than state the melody in his trademark octaves.
As Wes Montgomery sailed into ever-poppier waters towards the end of his career, two things remained constant: he kept writing and including original tunes on his albums and he kept playing and including the blues in one shade or another. Thus, on "CALIFORNIA DREAMING", another big band-orchestrated Verve album, we get "Sun Down," a six-minute original blues, cut for the most part with just the first-call rhythm section of Herbie Hancock, Richard Davis, Grady Tate and Ray Baretto. The other original, "Mr. Walker," is just as cooking and dates from Montgomery's second Riverside album, the aptly titled INCREDIBLE JAZZ GUITAR OF WES MONTGOMERY. Unfortunately at the height of his success, he died of a heart attack.

"Ju-Par Universal Orchestra - Moods & Grooves -1976 US":

One of the indie soul treasures of the 70s, a funky record that blends together jazz and soul, which stands out with a sound that's all its own.A sublime batch of electric grooves performed by a core combo of electric keys, bass and congas, augmented by sweetened strings and some occasional chorus vocals.

"George Benson - White Rabbit- 1971 US":

For George Benson's second CTI project, producer Creed Taylor and arranger Don Sebesky successfully place the guitarist in a Spanish-flavored setting full of flamenco flourishes, brass fanfares, moody woodwinds and such. The idea works best on "California Dreamin'" (whose chords are based on Andalusian harmonies), where, driven by Jay Berliner's exciting Spanish rhythm guitar, Benson comes through with some terrifically inspired playing.
On "El Mar," Berliner is replaced by Benson's protégé Earl Klugh (then only 17) in an inauspicious though at the time, widely-heralded recorded debut.
The title track is another winner, marred only by the out-of-tune brasses at the close, and in a good example of the CTI classical/jazz formula at work, Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Little Train" is given an attractive early-'70s facelift.
Herbie Hancock gets plenty of nimble solo space on Rhodes electric piano, Airto Moreira contributes percussion and atmospheric wordless vocals and Ron Carter and Billy Cobham complete the high-energy rhythm section.

"The Savage Rose -In The Plain-1968 Denmark":

The Savage Rose is a Danish psychedelic rock group, founded in 1967 by Thomas Koppel, Anders Koppel, Alex Riel, Jens Rugsted, Flemming Ostermann and Annisette. Ilse Marie Koppel was also participating. Nils Tuxen replaced Flemming Ostermann from their second album "In The Plain". Annisette’s name equals total integrity and honesty, absolutely unique stage performance and vocals, making her “one of ‘pop music’s most unique and powerful vocalists. Since the mid 1970s, the group has been an acoustic trio consisting of Thomas Koppel, Annisette Hansen and John Ravn as a core. From the beginning of the 1990s, the group returned to electric instrumentation.

"Genesis - S/T-1972 Uruguay":

Genesis, who benefited through the years with a more than coincidental name similarity to the English band, is one of the most peculiar groups in Uruguayan rock. Formed in 1969, the band was strong live act, playing at blastingly high volume. Eduardo Patron was fascinated by Roger Daltrey's image.Their only LP has a hard rock moves aside for a more experimental sound, based on Silva's elaborate guitar solos and the complex rhythmic drumming of Pirez, who displays great knowledge in his rhythms.

ONE OF THE BEST PSYCH ALBUMS MADE IN SOUTH AMERICA.

"Hamilton Streetcar-S/T-1968 US":

This L.A. band is best known for scoring the punk-psych hit 'Invisible People' off their 1968 debut single, but also released four more 45s and a self-titled LP. Members included Ian Hamilton (keyboards), Ralph Plummer (lead vocals), Tom Fannon (guitar), Mike Georgiades (guitar), Greg Hart (drums) and J. Alan (bass).
Heavily orchestrated, tracks such as 'Wouldn't It Be Nice (To Have Wings and Fly)' and the instrumental 'Entre Acte' sounded a bit like Curt Boetcher and Gary Usher's work with Sagittarius.
'Brother Speed' is an original but catchy tune that can be found on their album as well as the A-side of their fourth 45. This song was penned by John Boylan who helped contributed to the Streetcar's LP and had previously recorded and released it with his band, Appletree Theatre. Also the album included a cover of Tim Buckley's 'Pleasant Street'.

"Axis - Ela Ela\Osanna-1971 France":

Aphrodite's Child weren't the only Greek band trying to make it abroad, there was Axis, for example, a band that was actually formed in Paris in 1970. Like their more illustrious compatriots they succeeded in breaking into the hit lists, with a Greek traditional called "Ela Ela".They recorded three albums, the first of which contained some fine heavy guitar and organ, while the second saw them moving into the twilight zone between progressive music and hard rock. Axis disbanded in 1974, after the release of their third album that failed to make it commercially, in Greece as in the rest of Europe. Organ player Demis Visvikis and bassist Dimitris Katakouzinos joined Demis Roussos backing band.

"The 4 Levels of Existence-S/T- 1976 Greece":

The album that many people consider to be the best Greek psychedelic album ever recorded, a belief that would mean that the Four Levels of Existence LP would supersede albums by artists like Axis, Aphrodite's Child, Socrates and George Romanos. Despite it being the middle 70's, I guess it might as well have been 8 years earlier, because this really captures a late 60's vibe. This is tremendous, hard edged psychedelic/progressive material, originally released in a very small quantity by the private Venus label from 1976. As band leader Athanasios Alatas said: 'Through Nick's musical quest, Mario's sensitivity, Christos's madness and my thoughts, we create many songs, all characterized by a psychedelic music sound, Greek lyrics and monumental guitar solos.'

"Whitewood -S/T-1970 US":

Rockadelic Reissue one of the rarest US private pressed LP`s.One of the wildest and crusdest Garage-pyschedelic record, that was made by a company that would "put your lyrics to music" in the early 70's . Songs include "Whitewood", "Volcanic Eruption", "Let My Soul Free", "Pandemonium", "Victim Of My Mind" plus more. Psychotic lyrics and vocals expose some very deep psychedelia.Title track is an instant classic and 2/3rds is local late 60s garage psych.

"Monks - Five Upstart Americans-1965 Germany-US":

The Monks were a five piece band of American servicemen stationed in Germany in the 1960's. They began as a duo called The Torquays, quickly expanding to The Five Torquays, playing various rock and roll covers and originals in the night clubs near the military bases. In September of 1965, the band entered a studio just outside Stuttgart for two days to record the sessions found here (with the exception of two bonus tracks, The Torquays' "There She Walks" / "Boys Are Boys" single recorded in 1964).
Members: Gary Burger (lead vocals, guitar), Dave Day (electric banjo, vocals), Eddie Shaw (bass guitar, vocals), Larry Clark (organ, vocals) , Roger Johnston (drums)

"Hardwater - S/T-1968 US":

The self titled LP from Hardwater, from 1968 is a layed back West Coast style produced by David Axelrod. The band featured ex-members of The Astronauts (the surf band). When The Astronauts broke up in circa 1965, some of the band members moved to California. In early 1968 under the name of Hardwater they secured a recording contract with Capital Records. The band’s sound is a mix of Psych and Hard Rock with the distorted guitar solo like on Medley: ''My Time/Take A Long Look'' and some hard edged Pop-Rock tunes such as ''Love And I''. Nice psych from this midwestern band.
Members: Mark Bretz -( guitar ) Richard Fifield - (vocals, guitar)Ron Jenkins - (drums)- Robert Carl McLerran - (bass)

"Syndicate of Sound -Little Girl-1966 US":

The Syndicate of Sound were a '60s garage band from San Jose, California, with an edgy style that some critics have considered to be a forerunner of psychedelic rock.
The band originally comprised Don Baskin (vocals, guitar), Bob Gonzalez (bass), Larry Ray (guitar), John Sharkey (guitar, keyboards) and John Duckworth (drums).
The group was formed from the combination of two teen bands (The Pharoahs and The Aristocrats). The Syndicate of Sound rapidly became popular in the San Jose area and the next year won a "Battle of the Bands" competition against about 100 groups including The Golliwogs (later Creedence Clearwater Revival).
Baskin and Gonzalez continued to write new material, and came up with "Little Girl", which the band recorded for Hush Records in San Francisco in January 1966. It became a regional hit after San Jose radio stations latched onto it, attracting the attention of executives at Bell Records in New York, who released it nationally and offered the group a contract for an album.
Replacing Ray with guitarist Jim Sawyers, they wrote and recorded the LP in three weeks and began a national tour appearing with other hit acts such as the Young Rascals, the Yardbirds and the Rolling Stones.
"Little Girl" reached the US national pop charts in June 1966, peaking at # 8.

"Cykle-S/T- 1969 US":

Cykle created one self-titled album worth of solid garage rock. It certainly proves that the band was an enthusiastic bunch of musicians. Despite claims to the contrary, Cykle's music cannot be called psychedelia instead, it's closer in sound to the garage punk that started to come out a couple years before the album was recorded, in 1969.

"Luz Y Fuerza -We Can Fly- 1971 Mexico":

Luz Y Fuerza album has a very rhythmic brass section, dreamy harmonies and some good guitar work. Sounds like Blood, Sweat & Tears and Chicago,''We Can Fly'' is a very pleasant album. They sung in English.

by request: "Micah - I'm Only One Man- 1971 US":
Great organ/guitar progrock album with sidelong tracks and some interesting passages. The sound is a bit Santana-influenced, but mainly one for local prog/rock fans.

Members: George Wolff (Percussion,Vovals) Gary Ohlson (Organ,Vocals) Bob Rowe(Lead Vocals) Marty Horne(Lead Guitar) Gus Hernandez(Bass)

"Niagara-S.U.B-1972 Germany":

Niagara's S.U.B. is a rather typical album of 70's "Kraut" fusion in the vein of Kollektiv, Ibliss, Missus Beastly and Release Music Orchestra. The more prominent presence of electric guitar gives the album a stronger rock element than some of the other bands mentioned. In addition, various sorts of percussion are often used. A pleasant album.

''Jean Jacques Perrey- Moog Indigo-1970 US"

Perrey was born in France in 1929. He was studying medicine in Paris when he met George Jenny, inventor of the Ondioline. Quitting medical school, Perrey traveled through Europe demonstrating this keyboard ancestor of the modern synthesizer. At the age of 30, Perrey relocated to New York, sponsored by Caroll Bratman, who built him an experimental laboratory and recording studio. Here he invented "a new process for generating rhythms with sequences and loops", utilising the environmental sounds of "musique concrète." With scissors, splicing tape, and tape recorders, he spent weeks piecing together a uniquely comique take on the future. Befriending Robert Moog, he became one of the first Moog synth musicians, creating "far out electronic entertainment".

After establishing himself at the vanguard of electronic music as one half of Perrey & Kingsley, Jean Jacques Perrey continued to pursue his own uniquely space-age brand of humor-oriented pop throughout the 1970s. One of the best examples of his work during this time is Moog Indigo, an album built around Perrey's experiments with the Moog synthesizer. This album has been popular with the electronica crowd thanks to the presence of "E.V.A.," a funky synth excursion that became popular with remixers.

"Kissing Spell - Los Pajaros- 1970 Chile ":

First issued in 1970, Kissing Spell's ''Los Pajaros'' is a soft psychedelic brew of English and Spanish harmonies and dreamy production punctuated with stabs of fuzz, and not too far removed from Peruvian counterparts Laghonia or We All Together. After poor sales of the first LP, the band renamed themselves Embrujo and released one last LP in 1971.

"Limonada - S/T-1970 Uruguay":

An amazing record from the free thinking scene in Uruguay at the end of the 60s. A strange mix of styles, but a brilliant one too. Limonada only ever cut this one record, but it's a real masterpiece, a blend of 60s beat group instrumentation, candomble rhythms and some of the headier styles floating around the Brazilian and Peruvian scenes at the time modes that were experimental, but always playful and are handled here by Limonada in a sound that's instantly appealing, no matter what your language or politics! The record has a tremendously groovy sound from the very start, slightly psychedelic sound that features lots of weird twists and turns, but always moves back into a straight forward groove in the nick of time.

"Malo - Evolution-1973 US":

Malo was a Latin Rock group from San Francisco, California led by Jorge Santana, the brother of famed Latin-Rock guitarist, Carlos Santana.Four of the original members (Santana, Garcia, Tellez and Bean) were previously in a band called the Malibu's. The other three founding members (Abel Zarate, Roy Murray and Richard Spremich) were in a band called Naked Lunch.
Their third album ''Evolution'' is a heavier reliance on fusion jazz keyboards and a lower fire in Jorge Santana's guitar than there had been on the band's initial two albums. It's still competent and often pleasing Latin rock/jazz and a soul-slanted romantic songs that seemed more pointed toward the singles market than most of their repertoire, "I Don't Know." The most Latin-oriented facets of the band came to the fore on "Merengue" and "Dance to My Mambo".

"Chicano Power -Latin Rock in the USA 1968-76":
This excellent compilation contain 17 tracks by Latin bands throughout the U.S. who fused rock, jazz and Latin music in the late 1960s and 1970s. The title is a trifle misleading, although Mexican-American bands from Los Angeles and San Francisco are well represented on the set, it also includes Puerto Rican-American artists and groups from New York and Miami. There are also a couple cuts from the Peruvian band Black Sugar, included to illustrate the influence of U.S. Latin rock in Latin America itself.

"El Chicano - Viva! El Chicano -Their Very Best":
El Chicano is a Latin R&B/brown-eyed soul band from Los Angeles, California, whose influences can be found in rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz and salsa.
Originally known as the VIP's, El Chicano were at the forefront of the 70's "Conga Funk" movement, which included bands such as War, Malo and Tierra.Original members included Bobby Espinosa, Freddie Sanchez, Mickey Lespron, Andre Baeza, and John De Luna.
During the 1970s, new members Ersi Arvizu, Hector "Rudy" Regalado, Max Garduno, Danny Lamonte, Brian Magness, Joe Pereria, and Jerry and Rudy Salas joined.
Their best-known songs include the jazzy "Viva Tirado", the funky "Tell Her She's Lovely" and their cover version of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl". Their name means 'the Chicano,' a sometimes controversial word which stands for Mexican-American.

"The Mandrake Memorial-Medium -1969 US":

The second album of Mandrake Memorial , ''Medium'' has some interesting psychedelic interplay between guitar, keyboard and vocals as well as some jazz and Indian influences, there was a drift toward a harder rock sound and longer, more meandering songs.
The comparison might seem strange, but at times it sounded like the Youngbloods might have if they'd taken their jazzier and more experimental tendencies to more self-consciously progressive ends.

by request: "Tony, Caro & John-All On The First Day -1972 UK":

All On The First Day by Tony, Caro and John was first issued in 1972, by those three hippy folk musicians. John and Tony had met in their hometown, Derby at the age of 11 and played together in various rock bands (called beat groups at the time) from their early teens. They graduated in the mid-60s to the folk club circuit in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire where, like everywhere else on the folk scene, experimentation was competing for attention with the traditional stuff.

They headed off to university in 1967, John to Sheffield and Tony to London. In London Tony met Caro, just arrived from Bristol, and they began playing the university folk clubs together. On graduation in 1970 John came to London, joined the others and a flat-cum-commune was born.
So, here is the excellent and rare album of British melodious folk trio.
Enjoy GLAUBER!!!

"Nirvana - The Story Of Simon Simopath -1967 UK":

Long before the American grunge phenomenon, the UK Nirvana were an entirely different band. The songwriting team of singer-guitarist Patrick Campbell-Lyons and keyboardist Alex Spyropoulos were more concerned with the lighter side of 60's psychedelia.
Released in 1967, debut album 'The Story Of Simon Simpoath' lays claim to being the world's first concept album, pre-dating The Pretty Things' 'S.F. Sorrow' and The Who's 'Tommy'.
It traces the story from life to death of the titular hero via a series of short songs which are similar in tone and innocence to the work of Mark Wirtz. Although never reaching any degree of classic status, most of the songs are strong enough to cater for Lyons' somewhat plummy vocals and the saccharine sentiments.

by request:"San Ul Lim - Vol. 3 -1978 Korea":

San Ul Lim was the most sunshine rock band in South-Korea.The tunes have some languorous, moody bits that are rich with atmosphere and some really sweet work on bass and fuzzy guitars. They are brothers, Kim Chang Wan is the group leader lead vocals and guitar, Kim Chang Hun is a bass player and Kim Chang Ik is a drummer. The band name called San Ul Lim means “That Mountain Echo”. They were born out of a rich family in Seoul. Thanks to that they could buy the necessary rock instruments. Their 3rd album is the most rocky album of their albums. But they failed both commercially and musically, because they did not have the ability to play the complete songs in performance.
Super fuzzed out, trippy 70s psych rock from Korea!!!

"Sly & The Family Stone - Fresh -1973 US":

Fresh is the sixth album by American funk/soul/rock band Sly & the Family Stone, released on June 30, 1973. Written and produced by Sly Stone, Fresh is more upbeat than its predecessor, the landmark 'There's a Riot Goin' On', but still retains much of Riot's dark, funky feel.
The album's biggest hit was "If You Want Me to Stay". Other notable tracks include "Frisky" and "Que Sera, Sera", a cover of Doris Day's Academy Award-winning song from Alfred Hitchcock's -The Man Who Knew Too Much, sung here by Rose Stone. "Que Sera, Sera" is notable as the only cover song issued on an original Family Stone album.
Fresh is considered to be the last "big" album by Sly Stone and is regarded among the most essential funk records. In 2003, the album was ranked number 186 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

"The Stoned Circus - Revisited- 1970 US":

Stoned Circus started in 1968 in Kansas City and became soon to one of the hottest local acts. The powerful sound with male and female lead vocals has a strong Jefferson Airplane feeling, incl. great organ and heavy guitars.
Originally recorded in 1970, songs include 'Gotta find Way', 'Try Love, 'New World', 'Trust', a cover of Zeppelin's 'Gonna Leave You'.

"The Ides of March -Vehicle -1970 US":

The Ides of March began in Berwyn, Illinois (a western suburb of Chicago) on October 1964, as "The Shon-Dels."
In 1966, after changing their name to The Ides of March (a name suggested by bassist Bob Bergland after reading Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" in high school), the band released their first single on Parrot Records - "You Wouldn’t Listen." The song reached #7 in Chicago, and #42 on the Billboard Hot 100 in spring 1966.
In 1968, the band added a brass section and Bergland often doubles up on tenor saxophone for the brassier tracks. Having secured a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records, in 1970 the band released the track "Vehicle" which at the time became the fastest selling single in Warner's history.
