"Opa - Back Home, Lost 1975 Sessions -Uruguay-US":

Opa were an American jazz fusion band made up of Uruguayan members. They started in the 1970s, and released two albums in the US: Goldenwings (Milestone Records M-9069, 1976) and Magic Time (Milestone Records M-9078, 1977). Both were produced by Brazilian musician and composer Airto Moreira.
The band consisted of Hugo Fattoruso, George Fattoruso and Hugo "Ringo" Thielmann, plus guest artists.
On this album the music is funky and jazzy, groovy and urban, but it also has a heavy dose of the grittiness of mid-1970s New York City.
Drummer and producer Larry Rosen invited Opa to record in his small home studio. They recorded nine demos with Rosen during 1975 (all but one of the tracks, the other being the band's first demo recording from 1972). Included are versions of songs which would later be re-recorded the following year for Opa's debut album for Milestone Records.

Thank you so much for filling in my lost info on this group. Now I recall the Fattarusso brothers and Airto's involvment. I had no idea there was a second US release or the names of the LPs. I would wager that many would enjoy all three...I sure will!

Hey there,

Thanks so much for all the great uploads, links and detailed information. It's much appreciated. In case people don't know these Fattoruso brothers were formerly members of the fantastic Los Shakers ! Hugo continues to make some pretty incredible records. Sadly his drumming brother Osvaldo passed July 2012.

Haven't visited for awhile, but very pleased to have found this 'lost' OPA release. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks, my friend.
